OUR WORK

CASE COMMITMENT AND URGENT ACTIONS

"IT IS BETTER TO LIGHT A LIGHT THAN CURSE THE DARKNESS."

URGENT ACTION

Amnesty International's Urgent Action Network asks our community of volunteers to flood the mailboxes, inboxes, phones and social media of authorities when someone is in imminent danger of human rights violations. Read more about Amnesty USA's Urgent Action Network.

CASE COMMITMENT

Each Amnesty Local Group works on an individual case with their Case Commitment Coordinator to effectively campaign against human rights abuses.

For the past year, CVAI Local Group #1010 has focused on bringing justice to women in Iran unjustly sentenced to lengthy prison times for peacefully campaigning for women's rights.

OurCase Commitment is to end human rights abuses of women who are oppressed by forced veiling laws in Iran. Veiling should be a free choice, made by women.

VICTORIES

The best part of being active in Amnesty International is realizing the successes after so much work and campaigning. We can make a difference. â€‹

Amnesty supporters are making the world a fairer place. Because of the actions of individuals, lives have been saved, unfair laws have changed, the wrongfully imprisoned have been released. The work of Amnesty International volunteers has helped to halt executions, support human rights defenders and free prisoners of conscience—people jailed solely for the peaceful expression of their beliefs and identity.

Still, there are thousands more who are suffering in unimaginable ways, and our work must go on.
